Also remembered with white roses and a memorial stone with the inscription, "Would you also have had the courage to resist?" was Willi Graf, a native of Kuchenheim in the Rhineland. Graf, born in 1918, had joined the "White Rose" and had been executed in 1943. The most famous members of this resistance group were the Scholl siblings. Sophie Scholl, who was also killed by the Nazis in 1943, would have had her 100th birthday in 2021.
Jürgen Tegethoff, a 96-year-old contemporary witness, participated in the action for peace. Tegethoff, who had been imprisoned in the Remagen prison camp in 1945, brought a stone for German-American friendship together with journalist Andrew Denison.
Numerous passers-by, who were out and about in the good weather, looked at everything with great interest.
The Peace Museum Association, Bridge of Remagen, thanks everyone who participated! Photos can be seen on the website of the association, Facebook and Instagram.
